How Do I Become a Recruiter?

If you are interested in becoming a Recruiter for the Greater Greensboro CROP Hunger Walk, just click on the "CONTACT" tab to the left of the screen and send a message indicating your interest. Someone from the CROP office will respond to you within a few days. You can also click on the "Sign Up, Join In, Donate Online" button in the lower left to begin your online recruiting. This will direct you to Church World Services where you can register your team online and begin soliciting online contributions.

Our recruiters make our walk the great success that it is and we could not do it without you. Thank you so much for you interest in helping to end hunger!

So I'm a Recruiter, What Do I Do Now?

Publicize the CROP Walk at your congregation/organization. Hang posters, put CROP walk articles in newsletter/bulletin, email co-workers, create a CROP Walk bulletin board. The CROP Walk Steering Committee has a Speaker's Bureau and its members are available to come to your organization and make a CROP Walk presentation - please utilize this service if you feel it would be beneficial.

Recruit people to walk in the CROP Walk. Get more walkers by asking others to help you recruit walkers. Organize teams of walkers from each group you want to recruit - classes, choir, youth group, singles group, departments, etc. And, remember to recruit your pastor, rabbi, CEO, teach or principal as a walker; this will show that walking in the CROP Walk is "the thing to do!"

Challenge your walkers: the goal is $100 or more per walker (there is no minimum required, but the more the better!). Encourage the various teams of walkers to compete against each other on who can raise the most funds for CROP Walk.

Challenge the non-walking members of your congregation/organization to give to the CROP Walk. Pair them up with the walkers, ie senior citizens group sponsors the youth group. Make donating to the CROP Walk as easy as possible: set out baskets to collect donations before/after services and meetings; put envelopes (labeled for CROP Walk) in pews so members can drop in offertory basket; take up a general offering at a gathering or meeting.

Encourage your walkers to collect their donations at the time their sponsors say "yes." Then they will not have to go back to the sponsor after the walk and the pledges are assured to be collected.

Day of CROP Walk: Arrange for all your walkers to meet at the walk site and walk together. Have all your walkers wear their CROP Walk t-shirts and bring cans of non-perishable food for the Urban Ministry Food Bank. Collect the top sheets from the CROP Walker envelopes and have one person turn them in at the registration tables. Bring a banner with your congregation/group's name on it to carry on the walk.

DO NOT BRING ANY CROP WALK DONATIONS TO THE WALK!

Encourage your walkers to turn i their donations to you ASAP - it is best if they are turned in BEFORE the Walk. Deposit all funds collected into the First Citizens CROP Walk account. Make sure to include your organization's name on the deposit slip - if you do not do this, we do not know who made the deposit. Deposit slips are included in your Recruiter's Packet. More deposit slips can be picked up at the CROP Walk office at Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 West Lee St. The deadline to have all CROP funds deposited is December 31, 2010.

After the Walk: Collect all sponsor records from your walkers (used and unused). Turn in these and any other CROP Walk materials not used (ie posters, pamphlets, etc.) to the CROP Walk Office.

Thank everyone from your organization who supported the CROP Walk and report how much was raised.
